Lake Cumberland

We wanted to try something different than the beach this year for vacation, but we wanted to bring the boat. While searching lake vacations Lake Cumberland Kentucky came up. As soon as we saw it we knew we wanted to do it. We ended up booking a 77' house boat for a week. We had another family come with us with kids the same ages as my girls, 7 and 10. I have to say this was one of the best vacations we have ever taken. The lake is absolutely beautiful. It is much different from any lake here. The water is so clear that 10 can see 15 feet down. On the final night of the vacation we asked the kids how they liked the vacation well the said it ranks way above Orange Beach, Destin, and Gatlinburg, but right below Turks and Caicos. Well I think that is a win.

Been there. Really nice place. Stayed on a house boat just like that. Went to boil 1500 lbs of crawfish for some houseboat show.

Looks like fun.. did you go striper fishing at all? That's the only thing I'd change for next year... heck you go probably just drop some big perch out at night near the river channel if the wind allowed. great trip and cool pics.

Looks awesome. The beach is just that to me, the beach...after a day or two, yep, you've done it. May have to look into this type of deal. How was the weather?

Yes I did some stripped fishing. I used my electronics to find shad and caught with cast net. Trolled around watching the down scan until I found a school. I put lines out using balloons as corks at the depth I was marking fish. After about a 15 minute wait I had a nice stripper. It took me about 1 1/2 hour for my 2 22" strippers. The largmouth bass are another story. They are everywhere on the lake. Fished early morning with plastic worms and chug bugs. It was nothing to catch 20 bass in a couple of hours.
