Any one know how's the fishing in Henderson. I had someone tell me not to go because the fish were dying. Any info would be great, we plan on going tomorrow.:help:

sac a lait

went recently and hammered the sac a lait w sum friends. but one of the guys i fished w, said that there is gonna be a fish kill soon. he fishes it a few times a week. we saw hundreds of catfish @ the launch on the surface, which he said signifies a upcoming kill. so u better go soon, the water was perfect and the fish are surely there.

Stay in the deeper canals and you should find some fish. The backwater swamp areas will have fish kills with the water falling.

My neighbor went yesterday and said that the amount of dead fish was unreal (the smell too). They only caught one fish and had to struggle to catch that one. He talked to a guy who usually fishes the sacalait tournament and he wasn't catching either. They were on the west side by the private launches.

Thanks for the info

Ldwf did testing and found out that the fish kill was from a bad thunderstorm on July 6. Evidently, it "turned over the water" and the low oxygen water was brought to the top. This seems to be confined to the Boulevard and across from the landings. They retested the water and found oxygen levels to be normal. My son was fishing when that storm cam through there and he said that the wind and rain was unreal. Hope it's true, cause the fishing was just turning on really good!!!

All of the fish we caught was in north bigeaux, water was nice. I would think the areas with deep water access will not be affected. Only bad thing is the lillys are out of control!

Henderson Question

Hi Jake with Kern's Landing. Just came back from the landing and finely the lilies have moved out of the Boulevard and the I-10 cut has gotten better. The water is really clear on this end. Spoke to a couple of young fishermen who were in a nice Pro-Drive . They showed me an ice chest with 88 nice sac-a-lait. They have fish in Henderson. You just have to get to them.. Should be a Great Weekend.

I think that's a lot of bs. If they would open the gates at grimet canal and let that good water flow through there, you wouldn't be seeing the huge fish kill that is going on as we speak. Had a friend go today and he said there were dead fish everywhere and they could barely stand the smell.
