Do you let her swim another day

Just out of curiosity, whats the max size trout, not one going on the wall would you keep? Had a guy tell me I was crazy for letting a 6lb trout go to fight another day.....just curious.

I let go 90% of my trout over 4lbs go...unless its really hooked bad or hurt.....I like 12inch keepers....

25 inches or bigger gets released.

I have let 2 fish over 8 go, with the thinking I would one day catch a 9 lber. Needless to say, I still have nothing on my wall.

booyagasha 08-03-2011 10:07 AM

well, given that my biggest ever was like 19-20 inches, i got alot of "catching" up to do...lol

jpeff31787 08-03-2011 10:09 AM

my dad would never let me throw a trout back...... but I'd probably throw 6lbers and up back. 4lbers staying in the boat W sorry lol

I don't even know if I want to mount a trout so I'd probably throw an 8lb back as long as I get a pic.

For bass I throw everything back when i fish by myself, but I don't let anyone keep a fish over 4lbs unless they are mounting it.

super nice avator

Throw 5 + back unless hooked deep. Never plan on mounting a trout, so even 8's are turned loose.

SaltERedneck 08-03-2011 10:13 AM

would keep an 8 and above to mount trout wise. send the rest packin.

specktator 08-03-2011 10:14 AM

I will let anything go 4.5-7.5, 7.5+ is coming home for the wall. My cousin caught a 7 last year with me. Biggest trout he ever caught (biggest before that was like 3lbs). I told him if you are gonna mount him, keep it, if not, let it go. Of course he says he's mounting it and it is almost exactly a year later and it is still in his freezer. :pissed:

If I finally catch one 8 or better it probably wont make it back in the water. I will probably pass out and drop it on the floor where it will die .

When it comes to women I let the BIG GIRLS go....done mounted a few too many of those in da past :rotfl:

simplepeddler 08-03-2011 10:20 AM

I just have no desire to put a knife or mount anything like that.........
a replica I have done on a bass, (it's in Surperior Tackle in BTR now)

I really only keep what I can eat in two may three meals..........
But dat's just me, I hate cleaning fish!! LOL

Personally I regret releasing the two 8+ trout. I am starting to think I will never top that. Crazy thing I caught both of them the same day!

mikedatiger 08-03-2011 10:36 AM

I am starting to let anything go over 4. I have caught several between 6-6.5 and struggle to break that mark, but anything 8+ is going on my wall...

meaux fishing 08-03-2011 10:40 AM

7.5+ Im mounting... anything less im eating:cool:

Top Dawg 08-03-2011 10:49 AM

I keep em all. Dey all get filleted the only regret I have is eatin my 9.5. Wish she was on the wall.

you ate a 9.5??? have you gone mental? story please...

ScubaLatt 08-03-2011 11:07 AM

pretty much anything 4+. I'd probably keep a 9+ if I was entering the STAR, though ;)

evidrine 08-03-2011 11:18 AM

Im with Top Dawg on this. I dont see the big deal you guys have with keepin the big'uns. I would have kept all of the ones that you guys mentioned letting go. I have no desire to mount one either. Thats just me.

jchief 08-03-2011 11:30 AM

4 + goes back to produce more eggs.
