Baitcasters and Backlashes

Saw this tip on BassEdge on the the WFN Fishing channel.

Anybody use this tip (cranking down on drag, reeling in line) to remove backlash)?

How about using a heavy lure to set your reel tension? This seems backwards to me. I set that tension with the lure I'm using to fall slow without having to tip the rod and then make a few casts and if okay, loosen just a little for longer casts.

yeah i saw it on a bill dance show once.... it works pretty good he says to keep pressure with your thumb on the spool when you pull out line too

There's a sure fire way to deal with annoying backlashes. :smokin:

Neat tip I'll have to try out next time. Just started using them reels last year. They are a lot nicer and easier to reel in the big fish rather then them Zebco's I used to use.

try to do that with braid ........ it dont work and makes it worse 9 outta 10 times. i keep a jig head with the barb smashed down in my front pocket on windy days to help pick the braided line back lashes

Backlash

I've used it and seems to always work with mono. It may not work the first try but keep doing it and a little comes out at a time. Much faster than trying to pick it out.
