Got back on the reef in blacklake this am by 630. Made two long drifts. Five trout boxed and a few pickles released. Water look more fresh and definitely wasn't as clear. Idk black lake all that good but I guess it's possible the strong winds since Sunday made the water little muddy. Still fishable though. Either they were not there or just didn't want to eat. My cranking battery went out after running areator and depthfinder and working the power pole up and down just to fish a spot a little harder and longer and almost didn't crank it up. Ran around a bit a stopped one more time and it was fresh and battery has dead cell now so decided to come on in. Probably could of hooked up to a trolling battery but the bite just wasn't there and I wasn't gonna fish til 2-4 pm when I'm thinking maybe could of got a better bite anyway so high tailed it back to launch around 1000. My cousin got a qt and a half of shrimp and that hurt a little throwing them back in water, lol. But if u caught lots of fish all the time it be called catching instead of fishing..... I like both but catching is more fun! No pics. Five trout with largest being 17" and smallest 13". Good outgoing tide early. Idk. A lot more boats in there today running around but I'm thinking they were struggling too. If battery hadn't went out I may have went to south bank in big lake but talked to a couple guides that struggled in that area yesterday.

Sorry to hear about the battery. I'll send flowers to the funeral. I have three of my own that I'm suprised still work on a daily basis.
Thanks for the report! Enjoy reading them as usual. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk |

I had a decent morning until 2 guys with no trolling motor pulled up next to maybe 15yrds. Said they hadn't caught anything all morning. And wanted to know if we were on a reef. Had an 8lb anchor they couldn't hold in the wind. Needless to say bite was done.

It takes a lot more to turn over a 4 stroke. |
my sons 4stroke wont run without a fully charged battery and/or good connections.

I'll give you Suzuki, for example. If you try to start a Suzuki 4 stroke with less than 9.4 v, you'll fry the ECM. When I say "fry", the outboard may still run but give problems like over heat alarm or many other alarms which may lead you to think it's something else, but it's actually a bad ECM. I had a Suzuki once, that 3 different outboard mechanics could not correctly diagnose. It kept giving alarms, would go into safe-mode(won't run past 2200 rpm). When the Suzuki technician would hook it up to diagnostic software, it would say problems with the fuel injectors. We changed part after part. I started doing research on Google. After 3 months of research, talking to experts from Maine to Australia, I self diagnosed it to be a bad ECM. Changed the ECM and all problems solved. Suzuki actually put a service bulletin out many years ago that talked about trying to crank a Suzuki outboard with less than 10.7 v. They also state that if you have a WING-NUT to secure your battery cables to your battery........you VOID THE WARRANTY !! You must use nylon locking nuts. P.S. A new ECM is $1200-$1600. A good used one is $500 |
