6/8 Houston River

Caught 18 crappie and 24 bluegill/brim Friday morning. Only a few big ones though. The bigger ones came deeper (10-12ft)

Ok cool. Calcasieu too muddy to fish for me. Can't make up my mind if I want to go up above Bayou Serpent where Ive never fished for Crappie or try houston river again. Went and looked at westfork and water looks good. But it looks too brackish for Crappie so not sure how far north is have to go there either.

Ii went yesterday north of white oak. I found good water at stackpole island. There are plenty of spots to fish for those slabs lying in the water for ya. I just don't have a clue what to look for and what to do really. I know of a couple brush piles i located with my electronics if you pm me.

Goin to give it a try in am. Still don't know if I'm goin to white oak or houston river but goin to one of them. I have only fished houston river once and water pump was not pumping so didn't go far from launch. Caught some Crappie though but were on small side. Most of the research I ve done looks like mostly small ones caught. Nothing wrong with that they eat just as good. But Calcasieu is deeper and bigger body of water and there are lots of big slabs just harder to find. But then again the picture in this thread looks to be a pretty nice Crappie. 11" or so I would guess

Goin to try houston river. Last few trips on Calcasieu I caught several over 12" and a 16"ER and 17"ER with a huge mouth. Should of taken a better pic. Maybe I can find some slabs in there. Won't know til I try. Hopefully a good report coming.

Hell I've seen pictures frOk both of y'all. Houston river 2 MEM1971 0! Got some bad info last night, well not so much bad maybe he just can't see. Couldn't figure out where to go between Calcasieu or Houston river then a buddy mine text me saying he was at boat launch at Houston river and he could see about a foot. So I take off over there this am and it's as bad as Calcasieu but worse cause of current. Already hard to fish tree tops then it's 3" clarity at most with a hard fast current. Caught one little old white perch by 930 and i called it. I wouldn't have gave up on Calcasieu that fast but I've caught there and know how to fish each tree top etc etc etc. I will try again when level gets normal and it clears up but for now if I'm gonna fish muddy water it's gonna be water I know, lol. Hopefully better report from Calcasieu tomorrow

Aww that sucks !! Water is all messed up. I've just been doing chores around the house and fixing tackle until it get's right again.

I went to sabine last week and didn't even get a bite....

T-Boo 07-10-2018 05:44 PM

My buddy went to Sabine three days ago and only caught two dinks. He usually does well out there.

I used to do great out there but now, since I don't fish the marsh, I haven't done well since the floods.
