LSU Kayak Team at Cenla NHF Day

I've learned today that the members of the LSU Fighting Tigers Kayak Fishing Club - which won the National Collegiate Kayak Fishing Championship back in June - will be at the National Hunting and Fishing Day event in Woodworth this Saturday. The LSU team is trying to recruit students at LSU-Alexandria, Louisiana College, LSU-Eunice, Louisiana-Lafayette, McNeese State, Northwestern State and other colleges to form kayak fishing clubs at their schools.

The logic is that more regional competition results in better success for all schools. An excellent example is the College Bass Fishing Teams. Because of all the regional competition, UL-Monroe has risen to the top in national rankings, and recently won the FLW National Championship. Having more regional competition also saves greatly on travel costs.

If you or anyone you know enrolled at a college is interested in being part of a kayak fishing club, please email Jacob Cormier.

If you happen to be at the Woodworth National Hunting and Fishing Day, stop by and talk to the team. The event runs from 9:00am to 2:00pm at the LDWF Woodworth Education Center (about 10 miles south of Alexandria on I-49). For more details about the event, go to www.cenlaoutdoors.com.
