Haynie vs. Blackjack
 

A buddy of mine just got the green light to buy a new bay boat. He has priced many different bay boats, he has narrow it down to the Blackjack 22 or the Haynie 23 Big Foot. He is not a member on here and I have already given him my humble opinion. What boat do you all prefer he will be fishing in big bays mostly.

Been in both boats. At the end of the day he cannot go wrong. Both are great boats. I prefer the Haynie a little more. It gets out of the hole a little better. I like how it handles a little more. But it is splitting hairs.

Never seen the 23 big foot. Nobody that I know of has one. If he want to ride in the 24 HO send me a pm and we can hook up before I go back offshore

Don't think you can compare a haynie to a black jack. 2 different class boats, black jack, is In a different class. Black jack all the way.

Blackjack 55-60k "full boat" , top of line finish & hardware "no wood"

Haynie 45-55k 3/4 boat , halfazz finish & hardware , but can enter in the "madisonville wooden boat fest"

You really can't go wrong either way. Post up some pics of whatever he gets. We love boat porn!!

Spend the extra money for the blackjack. There is no reason to pay that much money for a boat with wood in it unless planning to replace in a few years..(one reason why I think a lot of guides use them). The blackjack has a superior fit and finish and I believe has more options for bringing family aboard. I've not ridden in a blackjack but I have been in a Haynie. The boat is a beast, but the fit and finish is sub par for a boat in that price range...Look at all the small details. I stepped on a hatch lid and heard fiberglass cracking due to the hatches being installed unlevel. Things like that work my nerves..

I just went through this same process and went with the blackjack. My kids would be falling out of that haynie.
