Can or should you refreeze red fish packed in water ?
water still had some bits of ice,but fish had thawed.

as far as spoilage goes, I would think its fine as long as it doesn't get above refrigerator temps.

I too have done it dozens of times with no ill effects.

I will say this, when you freeze things it crystalizes the water in the meat so it softens the meat a little when it does that, so if you refreeze trout again after it has thawed out, then I think it might break apart a "little" easier when cooked then if it wasn't double frozen.

You're good man. Have done the same with many meats with no issue. I only do that with something I will fully cook though. Won't do that with a steak because I like them bloody.

I do it all te tie wit chicken ya buy those family packs or 10 lb sacks frozen thaw them ot split them up and refreeze them. Almost every thing ya buy in hte store has been frozen at least once sometimes more.
