Boat help needed

Recently purchased a little flat bottom boat for the marsh. Guy I purchased from never came up with trailer papers. Is there a way to get trailer registered? I've heard of replacing tongue and thus a "homemade trailer", just don't know if it is legit. Any insight?

He can request the title at Motor vehicles. then do transfer to you. That is if you can get him. Did he do a bill of sale? Might get lucky and get it with that but usually they want that title signed.

I would think a "homemade trailer" would need to be inspected. to get title and registration.

Boat trailers have titles.
You need the title to transfer ownership and get the registration/plate switched over to your name.

The guy you bought it from has to go up to the DMV and fill out a form and bring with him a copy of any years previous registration for the trailer. He pays about $70 bucks, they mail him a duplicate title in a week or two(hopefully). He signs it over to you on the back of the title(in front of a notary who stamps it with her seal). Then you go to the DMV with the title, you pay taxes on the sale and they switch the title over to your name.

Look over quick quarter weekly want ads, what ever you can find for a boat trailer for sale with a title. When you find one buy it and use that title. It will be less of a head ache.
