Yep...Clint West and the Fabulous Boogie Kings. Some great "Swamp Pop" music there. The only drummer that I knew of that was in front of the band. He was also a good accordion player and recorded several songs in Cajun French. RIP Clint "West" Guillory.

My dad has been drumming for years with local bands. Played a few shows with Clint as the opener. He's met and talked with him several times. Always heard it rumered that Clint and Freddy Fender were pretty good friends. You know how those honky tonk stories can be though.

Back in the day it was common to have many of them on the same show, Rod Benard, Johnny Allen, Jivin Gene and others. Many of them recorded for Huey Meaux. I can see how they would all be running buddies. My uncle played with Bobby Paige and the Riff Raffs and he would tell me stories of how they would open for Fats Domino at some of the clubs around St. Martinsville. It's interesting to note that a lot of these guys from down here dropped their Cajun last names or even had a stage name so they could appear more main-stream. Thankfully a lot of their music is preserved on the internet.

There has been some good music made for sure. Beats the crap that is on the radio now for the most part. Unless it's a cd my radio volume is on 0
