stolen batteries?

Have yall had issues with this before? About a month ago I realized my boat battery was gone. Now it was about a 4 year old battery on my gatortail so I really didn't care because I was expecting it to leave me stranded soon anyway(i carry a back up). But tonight our neighbor just called and asked if we had anything missing recently because someone had stolen all the batteries out of his boat(3 of them, brand new expensive ones). They cut his wires and everything. mine were just unscrewed. I mean aside from brand new ones, why the crap would you steal an old crap battery. What would you get for it? $15 credit? I mean have yall had or heard of this happening? I mean are they doing something with them or just getting the little bit of money for them?

Takes a really low life to do something like this to someone.

I'm just shaking my head as I reread this.

What next ... ????

$9-$10 dollars at any battery dealer .no questions asked
With the time difference in yours gone and his gone it's most likely someone close .

they do the same for copper, they go in an empty house or camp and pull out all the wires and plumbing copper worth nearly $1000 to replace it, all just to sell it for $50 worth of scrap metal for dope.

it will be teenagers in your neighborhood doing it I bet. crimes like that are going to be someone in the area that know when they can get in and out unseen.

its time they start requiring ID to sell batteries for core charge like they started doing with cat converters and that way they can see who is selling a bunch of stuff that will give away who the thieves are.

batteries are heavy so I doubt they went very far away to sell them for core charges and 3 brand new batteries should be something someone would notice and remember, so if a person was willing to check the local walmart and other places, those batteries might still be found

I hope you can at least locate who is buying them but I doubt police would care enough to investigate so I think its a crime you have to solve yourself
