Marsh Island

I?m wanting to explore Marsh Island this year. I would prefer to not go get myself stuck though. I fish in a 20 foot Skeeter bay boat. Has about a 15 inch draft, can get up on step in about 18 inches of water. Any recommendations as to which bayous to take into the refuge to explore and not get stuck? Also, how do you locate the reefs around Vermilion bay? I just got a Lowrance unit with a standard mapping card so some of them may be marked, I haven?t been out there yet since I installed the unit.

if there is a north wind, bayou blanc gets real shallow at it's mouth and can actually be dry, so you would get stuck if you're on the south side of the bayou trying to get back in the bay.
generally, the north wind is bad to fish in cause everything is shallow.
bayou sand is also very shallow but I have fished it, just don't go near the banks toomuch and only use a troll motor.

do what people have done to other fishermen for years. wait to see another boat headed to marsh island and follow them with your gps on to their honey holes. lol
