Help navigating Big Lake

Could someone explain to me how to get into west cove from the lake? Is it best to enter from the northeast or southeast side of west cove? Also how can I get into black lake from big lake? TIA

Better to enter West Cove from southeast side if it is your first time. When entering from northeast side, the water can get pretty shallow especially on the north side of the entrance, especially in low tide. Stay in the middle if you are taking the northeast entrance.

You can find Black Lake by going down Black Lake Bayou off of the ship channel, continuing past Spicer's in Hackberry, and just keep following the bayou. You might want to use Google Maps on your IPhone, but it is pretty simple. You can also get to Black Lake from the Salt Ditch off of the Intercoastal waterway. It just depends upon which direction you are coming from. Be careful in Blake Lake as there are a lot of low spots and under water structure.

From looking at google maps, entering Black Lake would be easier from the north side of the lake through Alkali Ditch. Going through Black Lake Bayou looks like a lot of turns. Any specific area(s) to avoid in black lake? I really appreciate the input.
