"once in a lifetime" trout

but, I ain't so sure about this replica. Does it have no color, or, is it just me?

Big Flounder 09-14-2012 11:50 PM

Think it's the lighting and the background. Maybe?

LPfishnTIM 09-15-2012 12:22 AM

looks like its missing the iridescence that a speckle trout has.

CrazyD 09-15-2012 12:58 AM

looks like some one used chrome spray paint on it

Jadams 09-15-2012 04:50 AM

No lie, that was a waste of money to me

bmac 09-15-2012 08:31 AM

so...when making a replica mount, does the taxidermist just look at the picture and go from there? If so, I think it would be better to just put the picture in a nice frame. That replica looks stupid.

Big Flounder 09-15-2012 09:57 AM

That's why I joined the Internet world! I couldnt find anyone in the state to actually mount a flounder. Everyone wanted to make a replica. So I joined the other site they told me to take it to Steve German and they mounted it for me.

Agreed. Fish probally ended up dying anyways.

redaddiction 09-15-2012 12:13 PM

I'm sorry but it just wouldn't be the same if I caught a monster trout and just had a piece of plastic to look at! I want the real thing! Especially if it's gonna look like that junk!

calcutta37 09-15-2012 12:19 PM

It looks like crap...

Doliver 09-15-2012 12:54 PM

I agree. I have looked at this pic a few times thinking surely it has to be the lighting or something.

I can see some semblance of the irredescent colors on the fins. Wish there was a better shot. The lighting and angle has to have alot to do with it looking this way. This guy knows what a trout looks like, so, I can't believe he would accept a trophy replica that almost looks unpainted.

That's what I'm thinking also. I would think that even a crappy taxidermist could make one look better than that.

Salty, have you ever painted a replica?

Got one in the shop right now. It came in about a month ago. Honestly, I don't know where to start. :smokin:

The same guy that caught this fish is the one that talked me into tryin' it.

Bluechip 09-15-2012 07:20 PM

Cool.... I have no doubt it will come out beautiful.

If I ever catch a hawg trout, I would want you to paint it. With the attention to detail on your baits, I know what you could do with a trout.

If you ever feel like posting pics of it, I would like to see it.
