Baiting doves

I just read the ldwf segment in baiting fields. Kinda confusing. I have a sunflower field so can I mow/disc/bushhog/... If it's at least 10 days before season? There were game wardens hunting in the next field over last year. So want to be legal. Thanks

Yes. For doves u can just mow the seed down and you're fine. U can leave all the seed sitting on the ground. As long as it's grown there and not hand spread.

As long as seed on the ground was grown at that spot from plants at that spot you are legal. My experience is that if you have no doves then planting will not have much success. If you have a field that has doves with no planting then planting will help.

Plant sunflowers and brown top millet Mow the millet and once it dries burn the mowed area. Helps a lot when you get rid of all the plant straw on the ground.
depending on the size of the field and the number of birds you see in the area mow in sections so that you can have fresh seed on the ground through out the season.
