Maybe I can make it this year if my son isn't playing ball again

Never too early. Get it started!!!!!

Hope we get a season this year. Tough to plan on something when we do not know what the enviro freeks will dictate to us as a season.

Dink 02-05-2013 09:37 AM

Yeah Cap't......Ive done some reading and it really doesnt look promising.....they're talking longer season but only 1 fish!!??? Other stories say 3 fish. Yet others say state waters will be pushed to 10miles instead of 3 and limit will be 4 or 5 fish/pp inside those waters.......Lets hope for the state waters!!!

I was wondering if the annual Grand Isle trip was gonna happen this year or not. Just thinking about it yesterday, actually!

I thought we implemented a state season on the weekends from Saturday before Palm Sunday- Sept 30? With the exclusion of Labor Day an Memorial Day. The only thing in question was the boundary I thought.

cajun_poboy 02-05-2013 03:01 PM

The boundary has to be approved by congress before it is official. Right now it is still 3 miles. Congress will more than likely approve it, just takes time.

As far as the state weekends only season.. I believe they are waiting for a decision from the National Marine Fisheries on whether or not they will zone off the gulf and let each state manage their zone. If they decide to retain full management of the gulf then Louisiana may proceed with their weekends only season in state waters.

Should hear something soon.. the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council is meeting this week and should make a decision on regional management.
