9mm shield magazines hard to load

Has anybody tried a speed loader of any kind that worked? I can load the first 5 out of 7 in mag but the last 2 are a pia.

I have a Uplula which I wouldn't call a speed loader but definitely makes loading the last few easier.

I've got three teens that I consider fairly reliable speed loaders. Of course, they shoot most of the ammo also, but they are happy enough to load a few mags for the adults providing the ammo.

When you are putting the last couple of rounds in, put the round in position and hold pressure on it and then bump the magazine on your other palm. The magazine will loosen up a little and you will get use to loading it and it will seem much easier.

Only mag loaders I use are for Lanchester/sten magazines. Every thing else is either easy enough to load by hand or can be bump loaded. Bump loading a magazine is so much faster than using a loader.

Just store them loaded they will loosen up over time

Not for too long or the springs will get too weak. I try to rotate mags monthly.

Springs do not weaken from staying loaded.

They weaken from repeated use.

X2 on what kcinnick said. I have mags that have been loaded for 20 years and never have had any failure to load issues.

Well I'm not a gooru by any stretch but I've owned a few pistols and when I got them I could barely get em loaded. After sitting a few months loaded I could load them no problem, and they prolly only had 2-3 boxes of rounds out through em when I first bought em

They will weaken from both. Hence the reason mags are easier to load after being loaded for a while. It is because the spring is not as strong. It may not cause a functioning issue but the spring is weaker than it used to be.

Who da hell keeps ammo in a mag for 20 years and doesn't shoot it? Lol.
Just messing with you. I can't get close to a loaded mag without my trigger finger itching.lol

kibb 12-08-2015 01:43 PM

Trust me it gets shot. They are reloaded when they are put back in the safe.

I bought a UpLULA UP 60B yesterday at Mike Smiths gun shop in Port Arthur yesterday for $29.99 plus tax. Works like a charm. Showed to a few friends and they are headed to get one today. Now loading and shooting will be a lot more fun.

for my S&W M&P I use this and it works great, not a "speed" loader (even though it claims to be) but it makes loading mags effortless and easy

I like the Uplula also. Use the same one to load a Beretta .40, H&K .40 and 9mm and M&P compact .357Sig. I bet it will even work on my wife's revolvers...well...maybe that is a stretch:D.
