Patio and bar build
6 Attachment(s)
Took out the hot tub that I rarely used and stained the concrete and put this bar up. Made everything myself using cedar fence pickets as the finished wood. I think I'll need a crane if we ever move.Attachment 86442Attachment 86443

Wow thats pretty damn cool!! I want to build a
Old western style bar in my place in AR |
Very nice! I'd say it can comfortably fit 6 girls dancing on it..... What did you use to finish the bar?
|
Thank yall
Matt, it's definitely sturdy enough for 6 or 7. Maybe 4 big ones. I torched the wood, stained it golden pecan, and poured 3 coats of 2 part epoxy over it. |
Looks good. We are about to do the same by my pool / hot tub
I am doing a mod to my storage shed. Guys will start May 15th. Appliances will be either Bull or Blaze. |
Nice
Where did you get the bar stools. Looking for some just like yours.

That's a great looking bar. What did you use to stain the concrete? We are going to do something with our pool deck this summer but haven't decided what yet. Did you use that acid etching stain or is that just concrete stain?
|
First I pressure washed it. Then laid down a resurfacer - kind of like thin set, mix with water then trowel over existing concrete. I used an acid stain from Sherwin Williams. Then sealed it using solvent based concrete sealer. Don't get the cheap stain at lowes or Home Depot. Trust me, you will regret it.

That came out great

That resurfacer sounds like a good idea. I really like the looks of the acid stains but was told that because the deck was previously cleaned with muriatic acid the acid stains would not do very well. The resurfacer should fix that problem though. Is the resurfacer a commonly available product? |
Yes all of that is correct. It would not react because the acid wash likely removed calcium from the surface. I got 3 50lb bags at sherwin Williams. Just mix with water like a morter and trowel smooth and the stain will react fine. I used the heavy traffic mix.

This seems to be the perfect solution for me. I'm definitely going to look into this for my pool deck this summer. Thank you for the information.
