What is your opinion on the table fare quality of ringneck ducks?

Very good eating. They hang out in freshwater and eat the same grasses as your puddle ducks

Around here they eat rice,IMO they are decent but not anything special.

The males pluck out prettier than any duck I've ever seen. Good eating.

I try to shoot them as filler birds for a limit if I have to. I breast my birds out and I find ring necks harder to clean. Their skin clings extremely tight to the breast. I can't really tell you how much different they taste. They are usually in a gumbo with several other species.

I hate trying to breast them, the only plus is they are pretty easy to pluck on the breasts so you can leave the skin on.

Pluck them. Singe the fuss off of them. Soak them in water for about 3 days, changing the water everyday. Then either freeze them or cook them. I like them in gumbo, but my brother will pot-roast them and they are good if you know how to prepare them!
