Strange catch
 

Went out to Vermillion Bay last Friday, caught our limit of reds, 3 spotted cat and 3 keeper specks, now I?ve caught catfish and reds together often, but the specks threw me for a loop, everything was caught on dead shrimp on the bottom, an anchored in one spot.. has anyone else ever caught those 3 fish together in one spot at the same time? If you caught 3 specs on dead shrimp then there was probably a lot more there. They usually don?t bite dead shrimp too good. Did you try artificial baits for them too?

The bay can be a strange place at times. I have caught 4 species in the same canal, Reds, Specs, Flounder, and Bass, but never anchored up on the same bait.

Don't fish nowhere near V. Bay but have caught on southern shore lake pontchartrain reds , trout , bass , flounder , ladyfish ,sheaphead , drum , gars , sharks , bull croakers , fresh water cats , hard heads , sailcats , jack crevalle , guess that covers it........

We tried a couple different artificial baits but no luck. We caught 5 specks total with 3 keepers. It was a fun trip none the less
We actually caught blue cats, black drum, Gou, croakers, trout, reds and flatheads

Vermillion bay is known to hold all species at one time, lower salinity levels allow the freshwater fish to survive and its enough salt for the salt water species to maintain. reds can live in fresh water and trout can survive in lower levels than most think.
