Wall vs Main Street
There seems to be a disconnect between people who feel like they wouldn't invest in the stock market, but yet have IRA's or 401K's which are directly tied in to Wall Street. Capitalism & our free market society are why we are the greatest, most advanced & most profitable, and still set the standard for every other country on earth.

I would say about 1/2 the stocks that my IRAs have I also have money invested in them outside of my retirement accounts. I'm buying up as much oil stocks I can afford every month.

IRA and the stock market ie oil is 2 different stocks. One is more of a risk and the other is a long term gain Mutual funds. Mutual funds and stocks oil r 2 different investments

IRA / 401k / mutual fund allow you to spread risk out over multiple areas(diversity)
Buying stock in one company has zero diversity. Most people don't have the time or knowledge to sit down and look at individual stocks. So using a mutual fund, 401k or IRA with suggested investments based on risk tolerance helps them to find success or just feel more confident. The majority of people have no clue what they are invested in thru thier 401k , IRA or mutual funds..... They just hope it all works out. Retirement plan 101.... Save money , pray it is enough someday to retire. |
If anyone needs some assistance with mutual funds IRA /ROTH 401K etc. I can assist you with that!

Let me clarify, I guess I should have been more detailed, I have a lot of ETFs in both of my IRAs, (I have 2 IRAs, one swap over from an old 401 as well a self contributing IRA) as well I have invested outside of IRAs in ETFs, Specifically the XLE ETF.
I monitor my ETF investments daily (easy to do with todays smart phones.) Ironically the ETFs I have invested in outside of my IRAs are some of the same ones I have in my IRAs, so I am able to monitor them both by watching a few ETFs I can make changes with one phone call minute by minute. With smart phones its easy to follow by the day, hour minute. here a few screen shots of my phone http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...1-17-40-26.pnghttp://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...1-17-40-43.png |
