Almost a remake of my last trip. I think I got 31 or 32 this time. Last time 33. These were just right across the river from camp on an old tree top I found. Can't see the tree top but it's down there. I noticed the trunk on the bank and it was 8-12 feet of water right next to 20-25 foot drop off so figure it may be good. Got hung up tons of times and had to retie a lot. 48 shiners were gone in just under 2 hours. Left em biting so gonna check it out again early in am before this front. Fun fun fun!

It's been fun! I grew up and was raised right here on Calcasieu River Oldtown Bay Area, Goos Bay is straight across from my old place. Dad still lives out here over by Burnetts Bay. Until this year I hadn't fished Calcasieu for white perch since 2003 or so. But river doesn't clear up like it used to so it's a little different. Main River still where the bigger ones are with numbers and smaller ones coming from the bays.

Are you tight lining and what area of tha river you fishing

MEM1971 10-21-2017 05:00 PM

Tight line some if deeper than 7 feet but mostly using a cork with shiner and weight 6 1/2 to 7 feet under it dropping it straight down and then straight back up to try to avoid getting hung up. The more branches u find down there the more the fish like it! Have had many , like a lot, get wrapped up and not get them. I'm fixing to post today's catch and will say more therefore
