Boat Sunk at the dock
 

My boat filled up with rain and sunk at the dock. During recovery it was completely submerged. What all needs to be replaced? Does anyone have any experience with insurance claims. Any tips for dealing with the insurance. I'm hoping they total it.

boat doesn't have a self bailing hull? that sucks.. or an auto-bilge....

Self bailing hull? auto bilge? Man things sure changed since I last had one. How does that work in this situation?

A self bailing hull would allow rain water to flow off the floor of the boat and out the back of the transom. All boats have that now days. I don?t even understand how this happened. That boat shouldn?t have sunk. And auto bildge.... well that?s self explanatory. It has a float switch.

Fresh or saltwater?? All batteries,all fluids, belt if it's a 4stroke. Two strokes carbs need to be rebuilt either one pull the plugs and fill cylinders with oil. Spray all wires and connections in the entire boat that you can get to and try to get to some you can't with corrosion X.

Did you have the battery switch off, or the battery died

There is only a manual bilge pump. My next boat will have a float switch. I believe the way the boat was angled it didn't allow it to self bail. It was submerged about 14 hours in fresh water. The adjuster is coming Friday to assess the damage.

No big deal. Get the engine running asap after bringing it up. Google how to do it. Why would they total a boat for being in the water?

Because the owner wants a new boat, but probably won't happen. What owner will get is a bigger premium on his insurance next year.

A scuba diver tied huge air bags to the cleats and aired them up. It was towed about 5 miles to the boat launch submerged like in the second picture. He was then able to get the trailer underneath it.

Any good luck? Like did a big flathead move in or anything? I'm always lookin for dat silver lining.

Haha. Actually there were a few small brim in it. They weren't keepers though.

Is that a 220 Baypro ? Elcel ? I figured there would have been flotation to at least hold it level ?

I've brought a boat back to life after a similar situation. It's really not that bad. The hardest part of a situation like that is getting the boat out of the water and back on a trailer where you can work on it. Easy from there

That net holder is awesome! Even after the airbags were deployed, the net is still in it's original spot!
