live bait

I was thinking about using live bait to catch some bass but never have before. Any tips on bait or rigging?

yak'em-n-stack'em 09-14-2009 07:20 PM

never done it but would imagine hooking it through the back

Mediumheavyaction6'6 09-14-2009 07:25 PM

don't use goldfish! yeah yak'em is right if you use shad or something like that hook them right under the dorsal fin.

T-BAZ 09-14-2009 07:29 PM

Use big shiners hooked through the eyes.

speckdaddy 09-14-2009 07:42 PM

Use shiners on a light jighead or just a crappie hook.hook em under the head thru the top.fish em under a cork up against the bank and work it out slowly with steady pops of ya rod tip. Good luck

shoot bruh.. i aint no bass fisherman..never claimed to be nor will i ever be....but my uncle is hardcore into it..and he says you go get you a bag full of them big ole gold fish from wal-mart..and hook them through the lips...and dump them off in some lilly pads...he claims that this is the way he has caught the 5 fish hanging on the wall in his house..all ranging from 10 - 14 lbs.

huntin fool 09-14-2009 07:57 PM

Behind the dorsal fin, so they will swim..if shiners, dont go below the line (you'll see) Shiners work well under a cork with a straight shank crappie hook, 2 split shots, and a cork..Fish creeks, sloughs, wharfs, etc.

Hope that helps...Not much experience with bass fishing with live bait, but When i go to catch white perch on that rig, i catch bass

Live crawfish is also very good to catch bass.

blackmamba 09-14-2009 10:48 PM

How about worms?

CatDaddy 09-14-2009 11:12 PM

Im with T-Baz.... Big shiners, But i hook em behind the dorsal so they "swim around" and i use a cork at a few different depths..

huntin fool 09-15-2009 07:01 AM
