Limit Clarification

Was fishing with a friend and his 7 year old son last weekend.

With 2 licensed adults and 1 unlicensed child the in boat (was puking, not fishing, but the question remains), does that make three "limits" for the entire boat, two, or one catch limit per person?

It didn't matter that day, but I'm still curious.

Thanks!

3 people, 3 poles, 3 limits of fish.

I agree with DD and Dink. If you are ever fishing with me and reach your limit and stop before the boat has their limit, well.....that would probably be your last trip with me....., just saying!!

3 people = 3 limits. I'm not saying bring a 2 year old and say he caught a limit odds are that won't fly lol

That is all good......until the GW ask you child how many he caught and he says he only caught 3 fish.

Thanks for all the responses.

I think it all boils down to "the little dude has a limit of his own, even though he's unlicensed, but he has to catch his own."

I really wasn't sure if, due to the fact that he wasn't licensed, he was eligible to catch a limit, or if his fish counted towards the licensed fishermen's catches.

Of course, should just buy him a license, get him a wallet and let him carry it around. :)

The law is you catch your limit and stop or catch and release, as D said.

Pretty sure each person has to be capable of harvesting the intended game. In other words you can't bring a 3 year old in the duck blind and shoot their limit also.

You are only supposed to keep YOUR limit, if lil' one did not catch HIS limit, and you come back with 3 limits then you can get in trouble. Not gonna happen, but you can. Just like 'party hunting' for ducks. Technically, you can only shoot your limit, but most people just throw em all in the general limit for the blind, but you can get in trouble if it was pursued

SaltyShaw 10-03-2011 03:11 PM

Shoooot sling em in!! Dont matter who just get 3 limits in the box IMO

Some one need to tell some of the flounder fisherman this law.
