40 tohatsu prop
I am running a 1848 full tunnel alweld with 2018 4stroke 40 tohatsu, 3" jackplate, with 14p black stainless turning 5200. Probably can come up some more with motor but ran out of cup in prop. Also running 3 batteries and 12 gallon tank. Looking to try different prop. Thinking of going to 4 blade which means I need to drop to a 11p or 12p prop. Everyone I talk to are turning 15p black stainless but I know the not pushing a barge around like I am. Anyone else running similar setup?

Why not just add some cup to your existing prop and raise the engine some?

I am. Adding cup loads you up more and drops rpm's. Just dont think by raising motor an inch is gonna give me 800 rpm's

Isn't that tohatsu capable of being converted to 50hp just by removing the restrictor plate on the intake? That might help. The dealer in that area would do that before they left their shop. It was talked about in this forum a lot a couple years ago.

Yeah it can be done. I bought boat new out of beaumont. Dealer there doesn't do it. Boat runs great. Constant 30 mph on GPS. Just trying to dial it in

It's a do-it-yourself project. That's a free 10hp for you. I'm sure there's a YouTube video. It's literally removing a few screws and taking out the restrictor. |
