What is this and how do I kill it? They are getting to my tomatoes and I noticed one of my eggplants are messed up.

I always heard them called tomato worms but I know that isn't the proper name for them.

Cappy 06-24-2014 04:00 PM

DWA 06-24-2014 04:06 PM

Thanks fellas. I'm running to Home Depot after work to get some. I have to save little man's tomatoes!

PaulMyers 06-24-2014 04:23 PM

Will 7 dust work for the little stink bugs also?

Yes it will, but they will come back quicker than other bugs seems like.

PaulMyers 06-24-2014 05:02 PM

Thanks Jude.

Liquid 7 is a little easier to put on and you can also use malathon spray too.

Top Dawg 06-24-2014 05:22 PM

I use malathion and it works good. But it stinks!

Permethrin has a little longer lasting effect and doesn't smell quite as bad as Malathion.
Malathion will also burn the plants if the conditions are right.

Need to reapply after each rain. And reapply about once a week to keep the stink bugs away.

PaulMyers 06-24-2014 07:41 PM

Thanks for the replays.

I've been using Cyonara. Works good on stink bugs.

TRIAZICIDE from home depot. put in a dial n spray 1-1/2 oz. and hook to hose and spray whole yard. Get in there and squish every one you find first. I use this rite before anything is ready to pick and then when i get a lull for a couple days i spray everything again. If you happen to know someone with a card you can get them to get better poison at a commercial place. My father in law had a card and use to use ambush and lansade .

Cyanora is a good product. Its what we sell at the nursery. It has a pretty long residual, even after rains.

How do people raise organic produce at home? I'm assuming organic means no use of pesticides, so how does an organic farm deal with pests like that?

I know you can bring in certain insects to help kill off others that do damage to your crop. Soapy water helps with certain insects, but I'm not sure if that would make it inorganic
