2007 16' blue wave freedom vbay boat.
 

Hey guys I'm hoping to get some answers on here because I tried to get some answers from the dealerships of blue waves but they never got back to me out of the whole week. This is the situation I'm having which is I got me a 2007 16 foot blue wave center console freedom vbay boat recently and I just put on a 6 inch manual jack plate for my 2005 90 hp Johnson bomberian outboard motor but before I even got to put the motor on someone mentioned to me that my shaft is too short which is 20 inch shaft so I been trying to figure out if that motor with the 20 inch shaft will be okay to use on that type of bay boat???? Someone else mentioned to me saying if the plate on the motor line up to the screen cover that goes over the live well hole on the back end of my boat at the bottom I sud be okay but I want to be safe without burning up my motor if it's not low enuf to be able to piss out water to keep the motor cool.i even checked the jack plate to have it low enuf but not sure what is the depth of my boat on the back end. I'm hoping if anyone had this same type of situation can be able to give me some answers . Trying to save money and timing . :confused::confused::confused:

Trying to follow you here so bear with me.

Question, did you have the motor on the boat before the jackplate? Also, what are you trying to accomplish by adding the jackplate?

Wish I was fishing no I didn't have the motor on it I had my own motor and went looking for a boat that didn't have any motor on it

Also for the jack plate I didnt realize my shaft was 20 inches cux I wanted to keep my motor up whenever I'm in shallow water to be able to get on plane faster than digging up mud .

I looked around and couldn't find the transom height on your boat. Measure the length from the top center of your transom to the bottom of the V. From that measurement we can tell you if your motor will work.

Another way would be to hook your motor on the transom and see where your cavitation plate is in relation to the bottom of your hull. use a yard stick or something straight and hold it against the bottom. then measure the distance between the bottom of your plate and the yard stick. If you are 2 inches or below on your measurement your motor is good to go.

what is the boat/motor doing to effect you? if its pisssing water its cooling.

Trust rivers no I haven't put my motor on yet but don't want to risk putting it on and buying trottle box and etc then put my boat in the water to find out my motor shaft isn't long enough to have my suction in the water as I get on plane .

Cavitation plate should be even with the bottom of the boat, start about an inch to a half inch below and work your way up....If the transom is too tall you might be able to use it to lower the motor...probably not though

Wish I was fishing yea I know what u are saying but on my boat I have a little bit of a square gap it's not a tunnel hull but kinda hard to explain its like the edges are even then when it meet in the middle it a square gap where the live well hole and another hole to flush out water if rain water get in the boat . Wish I cud take a pic but don't know how to post it on here .

Bdub the transom is pretty low if I cud find a pic on the Internet and post it on here it cud help out in a way

i may be wrong but i believe 25" shaft motors are usually higher horse powered motors, that boat is probably rated for a small motor that only comes in 20" shaft lenghts

I will upload tapa talk soon and will take a picture of it tmw if it's not raining all day . Cux it will make it much easier to see than just explaining with words . Fish fighter yea I figured the same thing but some of my friends are saying they think my motor shaft is too short for that 16 foot but I'm having doubt in them but still rather be safe than buying all the parts and put it together and as I go test run it and find out it's not long enuf to keep the bottom unit underwater as I take off on plane

Get a tape measure and measure the transom like wishin said, that is the easiest way, i really doubt a 16 foot boat would have a 25" transom, check the plate inside the boat that says what the boat is rated for

fish fighter i know what it rated for but i prefer my motor cux i already had this motor on a 16 foot bass boat rated for a 80 hp but this blue wave boat is rated for 75. i didn't have no trouble using my 90 on the boat i had before but now want to use a bay boat.
