Anybody been crabbing at the rock?

I'm taking my daughter in the morning, just wondering if they've been running.

Last I heard (2 weeks ago, they were running), don't know about now. Good luck.

We went yesterday, launched at Joseph's harbor, took the first right, stopped at the first little weir on the left, very close, barely had to get on plane. Water in teh marsh behind the weir was real low and the gators were stacked there thicker than I've ever seen. It was also real grassy, widgeon grass and salvinia. For a while the bite was pretty slow but as the tide started coming in it picked up. We had to go through a lot of small crabs to get the better ones, we lost a lot of crabs because it was hard to scoop them with the grass as thick as it was, and we had to fight the gators for our bait all day, but we ended up with 6 1/2 dozen pretty nice crabs, all were pretty full. Was back at the launch by noon. Boiled and ate the 2 dozen biggest ones last night, then scalded and broke the rest to make a couple of dishes with. Making crab curry tonight, adn probabl a stew this weekend.

By the way, on that first picture, every dark speck in the water is a gator head.
