The current "craze" for rods is how light they are. By shortening the handle, it lightens the rod. Same with the reel seat and guides.

well from experience... if the rod handle is shorter, the wedding ring digs into the blank causing multiple scratches and dings. My current cumara is two shades of grey bc of it lol. |

X2. Besides the minimum changes...looks same with new paint job
Got a md fast 7'2" Cumara if anyone wants it pm me. 100 bucks. It makes my fingers go numb the way I hold my rod and has damaged nerves in my left middle finger |
