hotel west Houston

traveling through Houston mid week next week and want to stop to sleep on the west side or just outside of Houston so we don't get jammed up in traffic the next morning when we continue on west. dont want the Ritz quality but also dont want roach motel either , just somewhere that wont crap when we carry in gun cases and the rest of our gear can be safe in the truck / bed of truck .
thank you in advance

Hotel Derek by the Galleria is nice

If you don't want traffic you will need to get at least to Katy. Traffic from 4-6 in the afternoon will be horrible and start to get bad at 6:30 am. If you stay in Katy and head west you will be ok.

Katy, have stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn there several times. Nice place and a stones throw from Bass Pro

Several good hotels in Katy right next to Bass Pro, Springhill Suites, Comfort Suites, Hampton Inn, Residence Inn, Hilton Garden, Country Inn, Holiday Express. Won't have to make reservations.

Thanks! Its gonna be extremely hot , with super rugged terrain , spending lots of time behind the binos so the stalk can begin!

Try Murphy's Corporate Lodging. They are fully furnished apartment to rent by the day. Most are behind locked gates. Tell them what part of town and request locked gates. This is all I use when I go to Houston.

I'm from Katy and Katy will be best bet. Like mentioned before a lot around bass pro plus got a police station there too. Whatever you do do not stop in Brookshire.

And don't leave anything in the truck either!

Been talking to May over there and they are awesome as far as service and rates go, haven't stayed yet though. Based on the pics and how I've been treated so far I can't imagine having a bad experience.

x2 on leaving anything in the truck.

Omni west govt rate is near $100. Really nice place. Marriott just west of hwy 6 is nearly new. Everywhere else west is all the same. Don't leave anything valuable in truck all points west of the Atlantic along I-10. Katy is as bad as Houston and as bad as everywhere else.

This is where my company puts us up when we have to go to Katy for training. I have no complaints about it and would stay there for personal use also.
