Minnkota talons update?

How are the talons holding up out there against the salt water

The 10 and 12 foot Talons!

BIL seems to like his, hasnt had it long enough to comment on longevity though.

nozediver 12-11-2015 11:24 PM

I have the 12foot and love it

alphaman 12-12-2015 10:43 AM

I have trim tabs will that cause any problems with clearance. I don't have a jack plate. So I'm looking to mount it with the sandwich bracket behind the motor .

Get a power pole and be done with it man! Talons are junk!

ratherbefishing186 12-12-2015 06:22 PM

I have a 12' but only had it for 4 months, so no call on the longevity yet.

Powerpole is the better product IMO.

My talon spent the last year or so that I owned in my shed. Broke on me, fully deployed. Had to remove it completely off of the bracket and disconnect the wiring. Never bothered with it again. PowerPole if u want to go that route. Or stickem pole. That's what I've been using, $100. No maintenance required.

My buddy and his dad each got a Talon for their boats, bragged about it for a few months and now they each have a PowerPole. My PowerPole has been trouble free for a few years now.

From what i heard Talon used to have alot of issues, But the newer models have been doing great and seems as if they have fixed the issues.

That's what I was thinking. the newer once are holding up. they moved the motor down towards the middle.

Yeah alot of the bass pros are switching over to the Talons now. Just much more simple and nothing to take up a whole storage compartment.

Samarai 12-15-2015 11:57 AM

my talon is 4 years old(8 ft) strong as ever. Ive forgotten it was down and have taken off a couple of times only to realize i wasnt moving and was going in circles. Thought for sure i messed it up. Had to use a wrench to retract the stick each time. Thought it was broken but no, it just springs back to life. Note to self always check to make sure that thing is retracted.

I wouldn't add any pricey accessories to a boat that is for sale. You never get your money out of options.

alphaman 12-15-2015 01:57 PM

That wasn't my intentions. just decided to sell as of today bc had some changes on the job.

bayouchub 12-15-2015 01:59 PM

Sorry to hear. Good luck with the sale.

alphaman 12-15-2015 02:01 PM

It's not a bad change at my job. I don't have to sell it. just putting it out there. thanks
