Sand Eels

I hear a lot about the sand eels. How do you guys fish them? Steady retrieve, like a suspending twitch bait, bouncing off of the bottom?

Ray 08-14-2009 02:18 PM

Depends on the depth and water temps.
Cold, move slowly.
Shallow, wiggle it back to the boat.
Deep, bounce it off the bottom or make a fast retrieve.
You may have to do different retrieves until you can find what they are looking for.

SULPHITE 08-14-2009 02:19 PM

depends on weather...water color etc...

steady slow in cold weather or murky water faster with clean water

if its slow I like to bounce it on the bottom...

This may be W's area though!

Just woke up!!!!........ You can't go wrong with sand eels..........I use the jrs...

use them on 1/4oz and 1/8oz most of the time....when they want it real slow..like in the winter time I go to the 1/8oz.... most of your warmer months...1/4oz jig head working it med to fast bumping action..... Color all depends on water!!!

Thanks Guys.

you don't work them; they work for you!! lmao corniest thing i ever heard on tv

nah just listen to the guys on here they seem to know what they are talking about.. The first time i ever put on a sandeel on my line was about a year ago, and it hasn't come off.. and i don't even think about taking it off. Awesome baits man. I compare it to the fluke for bass fishing.. fish just can't turn them down

I've always been more of a cocahoe fisherman, mainly the hybrid flurry. I have a pack of glow and chartruse and LSU eel jr's....guess i'll have to fish them more often

We weren't on any big fish. I'm not hatin' and I'm not saying them eels aren't fish ketchers. Obviously, they are but they are basically a school trout bait. I'll show ya this winter. :smokin:
