Surf Report
Friday: Light SSE winds appx 5-7. Went on a scout trip on my way in from work around 3 on Friday afternoon. Water was better than I expected towards the end of the rocks, but I decided to head further east towards Holly Beach to hit areas I normally don't fish. Spotted a pocket of cleaner water and so I fished for about an hour catching 2 trout and 2 reds. Missed several good fish due to lack of net. Left rocks and headed to ship channel, but there was nothing happening. Lady fish were all over the place making it hard to fish and water was not too good. There were 3 guys castnetting mullet for 30 minutes, but they did not fish while I was there. Gave fish to a couple shrimping between Holly Beach and channel. Does not take long for someone to answer when you ask if they want a few trout and reds.
Saturday: ENE winds 5 building to 10-15. After Friday scout trip and the forecast for NNE winds, I was ready for Saturday morning. Four of us got to the beach before daylight and quickly became dissapointed with the wind direction. We caught 15 keeper reds and 8 keeper trout (14-20) inches. Most were caught in a foot of water. Only caught big bull reds at the rocks that we released. Once the winds picked up, they turned off and we called it a day early so we could watch the Cajuns get slaughtered and get ready for the LSU game.
Fishing was not as good as expected and both games turned out exactly like I expected, very dissapointing.
