Quick Fried Biscuit Doughnuts

This morning I had a couple of cups of coffee and thought I was done. I started feling hungry for something and doughnuts popped into my head. Great! I didn't feel like going to Baker's Dozen or to Dorignac's so another thought popped into my head. Fried canned biscuits! I look in the laundry room fridge and sure enough there's a can of biscuits there glowing with an aura around it. I go outside and plug in the T-Fal fryer and go back in to pop open the biscuits. My son heard it pop open from the den and exclaimed "biscuits!". Lol.......... I answered "no FRIED biscuits!" . Next thing I know he's wanting to make them like my mom used to when he was a kid. I took out a small biscuit cutter to cut the holes out and let him at it. It was only eight biscuits though.
In no time the fryer is ready for frying. They cooked pretty quick and we were eating probably quicker than if I had run the to Baker's Dozen. Some got sprinkled with just powdered sugar and some with sugar and cinnamon.

Not a bad little breakfast and it brought back memories for my son and myself.

When I was a kid..... Mom use to let us make them. We would just push a finger through the dough to make the hole. Then we would kind of turn the dough "in-side" out before putting it in the oil.

For us 4 kids, we probably fixed 2 or 3 containers.

Man I love those we cook them all the time. Have you tried rolling the biscuit dough out thin and put pie filling in them fold in half then either fry or bake them. Man its good too.

Man gonna try that for sure!! My mom used to make cinnamon bread. I think it was white bread, cinnamon, butter and sugar. I've tried a few times but can't make them taste like hers.

My first wife and I use to make cinnamon rolls.

Open a can of biscuits and roll it out on a cutting board about 1/8" thick and maybe 8" wide.

Melt about 1/2 a stick of butter [not margarine] and generously spread it out over the dough.

Mix up about 1/4 cup of sugar and about a tablespoon of cinnamon in a small bowl. Sprinkle this mixture generously over the dough. Save a little for later.

Now cut the biscuit dough into 5/8" wide pieces x 8" long. Roll the piece into a round circle. Cut all the dough and roll each piece up and place on a cookie sheet with each piece touching the next one.

Now pour any "left-over" butter from the cutting board and put it on top of the rolls of dough. Then lightly sprinkle the top with some of the sugar/cinnamon mix.

Cook as directed on the can of biscuit dough.

When the cinnamon rolls are cooked, covered the top with a sugar glaze.

To make the glaze.........Put about 3/4 cup of confectioner's sugar [powdered sugar] into a small bowl. Slowly add about 3 tablespoons of milk [or water] and stir until smooth and so that you can pour it onto the rolls. A teaspoon of vanilla extract can be added.

Pour the glaze evenly on the hot cinnamon rolls after they are cooked.

Enjoy!!!!!
