18#'s of pot found in grand isle
 
More than 18 pounds of what police suspect is marijuana was found washed up on a Grand Isle beach Tuesday, according to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office and Grand Isle Police recovered the recovered the drugs, and the two agencies are in the process of trying to determine their source.

To aid in the ongoing investigation, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office Water Patrol Section has increased shoreline patrols with the assistance of Port Fourchon Harbor Police.

From what I hear it happens quite frequently. I remember fishing in Breton sound one day and saw some floating packages.... Kept going , didn't want to get shot or have to miss out on fishing time to answer questions from the cops.

Maybe it's one of them deals where the drug smugglers stuff the "product" up their butt. And the unlucky traveler carrying this one caught a mighty bad cramp and had to offload and forgot what he was carrying?

When I lived in FL, it wasn't at all uncommon to find packages coming ashore. Now, it would be a gamble to grab one because, as I understand it, whoever touched them, owned them.

This is a pic of the last set of bales I had contact with b4 hanging up the uniform.

It's not uncommon at all. I'd estimate 1 of 3 big commercial freighters move something illegal (not just drugs either). It's just a matter of how well they can handle/hide it.
