What Type of Rods....
 

Just wondering what rods everyone's using for inshore fishing? I'm about to upgrade my rod/reel set ups and just want to know what some of you guys are using. Thanks.

My rods are bought from the feel of it over just a name. I do shop the high end rods, but the feel of it is what I'm looking for. I have St. Croix, Duce, Duckett, AS, and the St. Croix for inshore is my favorite. Shimano reels are hard to beat. 6 or 7 ratio.

I have a 7'6" Calc Extreme as well as a Duce rod both casting.

Sarge custom the Hassle for plastics and small top water. Sarge custom wing man for big top water.

I throw an older ttf gundog master hunter for tails and a St. Croix mojo Bass "jerkbait" model for tops. The Mojo is as good as any topwater rod I've ever thrown, and I've thrown a bunch of em. I highly recommend it especially for $100 price tag. I would go to a good tackle shop and feel a bunch of different rods to see what you like best. I don't worry about a rod being considered a freshwater rod or a saltwater rod, or if its considered a med/light or med. action or if its called topwater or crankbait rod. I just go off feel. Even better if the tackle shop has the reel you intend to put on the rod, and will let you try the different rods for feel with the reel on it. That's what I did a while back

Thanks for all the replies guys! Maybe I should've specified that I am looking for rods in the $100 -$150 range. Don't get me wrong I don't mind paying for quality but I'm such a novice fisherman right now I probably couldn't tell the difference between a good rod and a great one, but I look forward to working my way up that point.

Go over to Daily's in Port Arthur and check out the Titeline Fishing Rods... they were started by a guy that originally worked at Allstar rods before they were bought out.

In my opinion they are a custom rod at a stock rod price...tough, yet well made, very sensitive and light, have the smallest guide inserts i've seen without going to micro guides. Its a lot of rod for $149.
