Went out of c.point to do a little redfishing for the first time this year. Fished the reefs from the pass all the way to the mounds. Found good water everywhere and Sunday the gulf around the reefs looked like trout water, amazing how the good water can move in over night with a west wind. It was fast limits and crazy action both mornings. All fish caught on dead shrimp under cork.

Great catch, guys!

How deep under cork you were fishing and are you using a jighead or some other kind of hook? Also, do you ever cut your shrimp in pieces if they're larger or do you always put the whole shrimp on?

I saw a guy that had 50 big trout from around Diamond reef area Saturday!

2' under cork. I like to use either a 4/0 or 5/0 kahle hook, no jig head. Medium shrimp I leave whole, large shrimp I break in half. When the fish are there, it doesn't matter what you put in front of them. We caught a few on a small plastic shrimp also, but it did not work as well as the dead shrimp.

OH REALLY!!! I can believe that because the water clarity was there and salinity. I left the test trawl at the house figuring the salinity was still too low like a dumby. I did see one boat fishing around there on Saturday. Sunday would have been the better trout day as the water cleared up tremendously. I would have liked to hook on to a few trout.

Thanks for the info.....

I'm assuming you're using some kind of weighted cork then if you're using a Kahle hook in order to give it some weight when casting.

H&H orange float weighted with fluorocarbon leader. I buy them at academy.
