Pecan Island Report- Holy Thursday Report

Well me and a friend when out of PI last Thursday... We launched @rollover...

A friend had given me a report they had caught some RS and ling in sate waters the Saturday before...

We off we went armed with some pogie, and chum made of macaroni and nibblet corn... Wanted to stop at at weir to get some live bait, but friend left his castnet .. I lost my $ 170 custom handmade net at the Game warden camp last fall.(Note to Self...Don't throw a expensive castnet at the wiers.)

Well when we got to platform my firend caught them at... Water was iffy.. But my Depthfinder Lit up like a Xmas tree with Biggggg Snapps...

We spent 2 hrs trying to get them to bite.. Nada... I said to my friend lets go explore to the west...

Off we went... We got in the E Cameron area in state waters the water color changed to a very nice blue green with about 10' of vis...

First platform we stoppped at.. First drop with some cut bait.. Rod doubled over.. As the Snap was coming up about 10-15 other snaps came swimming up.. We caught and released about 50 snaps up to 15# all in 42-46' of water.

We kept our 4 snaps about 7-8# and one 5# mangrove..

Nice. Where did you find 46 feet of within 9 miles?

Out of rollover.. 5.5 miles out So. of RO, U in 43 ft of water Verm 22... The 39 and 41 blks are right at 45 ish to 48 ft of water.. ...We went west into East cameron blks. Need to know what to for...

Ok. Guys...HINT....... There are some DEEP HOLES (some can be up to 15'-18' deeper than the water the platform is in) around EVERY Platform in the GoM.. It's knowing what to look for... Which I do.........

Educate us. What do we need to look for?

You are the man. I did not know that. Is there any better launch then rollover? I have a triton 2500 that i am scared to get stuck back there.

I'm fishing a 24' Triton LTS.. They have 9-10' of water on high tide from the Verm Corp weir to the GoM. Mouth of GoM. is 5-6' still ...

Anyone who works on platforms knows what I'm speaking of... Hint..........What would make deep holes in the sea floor around a platform??? I've given U all to much info all ready....
