Best braid?

I know it's been discussed a thousand times on here - humor me. I'm considering putting 15# braid on a 1500 sized reel for fishing when trout are smaller. What brand would you use?

i would go with 20 lb power pro. Same diameter as 6 lb mono.

Suffix 832 is what I prefer after trying most brands

For a spinner I would go with the 20lb. Either 832 or Suffix performance.

I like power pro. Id go 20lb

Buhz 05-14-2017 12:45 PM

On my 1500 series shimanos I love the spyderwire stealth. I run 15lb on all my setups, except one ultralight I run the 10lb.

I have been using Power Pro 20 and 30 pound, cast super easy and you can clean a nest up fast if the wind gets you. I casted a few of my friends rods with their brands to see what I liked first, I got lucky due to the fact a few of us had the same reels. I had my 7 year old casting my Abu 6500 C3 with some a while back....haha.

I'm running 15lb super slick on my spinners and haven't had any issues.

Been very happy with PowerPro on a bunch of reels and different set-ups.

Absolute best for everything? Probably not, but a nice balance of very good and not too expensive.

FYI if you happen to put it on baitcasters, you'll likely have problems with the braid digging into your spool if you drop lower than 30#.

I've mitigated this issue by taking care to spool up against resistance.

On a spinning reel I use Berkley Fireline, tie to the leader with a double uni knot.

Gasper Master 05-16-2017 10:15 AM

Shouldnt nees to go real light on the braid, as you will need to use a mono or flouro leader anyways. I use 30lb w 20lb flouro leader

Gasper Master 05-16-2017 10:16 AM

That way if you switch to reds on the same rod, u cut the leader off and tie strait to the braid

B Shark 05-17-2017 09:56 AM

Lighter line = longer casts.
