why was the "CCA STAR Tournament Big Trout West Leader" thread moved?

as the title asks, why was the "CCA STAR Tournament Big Trout West Leader" thread moved?

this was a very popular and lively thread being discussed here on the forum and "by definition" this forum section is

"General Discussion (Everything Else) Discuss anything that doesn't belong in any other forums here."

and this thread fits that description to the letter

so why was it moved to the restricted access section of the forum?

you actually had new members joining the forum because of this thread yet you choose to bury it, why?

FREON 10-04-2016 04:28 PM

X2.....Inquiring, non gill net, minds want to know.

redaddiction 10-04-2016 04:32 PM

I was actually wondering why it wasn't removed a long time ago. I thought moderators were supposed to keep his kind of bashing, name calling, and overall bad taste off the boards.

that description of the content only applies if you automatically presume the claims of cheating were false and those claims, as we saw, seam to have been proven to be accurate.

if they wanted to remove the thread before such claims were proven accurate, then that would be fine on the grounds of it being "unproven allegations", but to move it to a restricted viewing area now, makes no sense and has no basis in reason based on the forum posting description.

it wasn't posted in the fishing section, it was posted in the appropriate general discussion section for threads such as that as mentioned above

You will notice that he didn't deny the use of the delicious Jiffy corn muffin mix to enhance his weigh-ins. The Muffin Man was caught red handed.

lil bubba 10-04-2016 05:23 PM

Jiffy isn't really all that tasty but I guess if it all you can do it'll pass.......It really isn't all that hard to make a good corn bread ........

pricecb 10-04-2016 05:35 PM

Bra dont dis the Jiffy!

Ate my share of jiffy .........Then I married a good cajun woman..........

Smalls 10-04-2016 06:39 PM

Heck, there are better options for PREPACKAGED cornbread. Jiffy is only good for peanut butter.

if you cook a corn bread stuffed fish whole, do corn fritters pop out?

speck-addict 10-04-2016 07:10 PM

ScubaLatt 10-04-2016 08:08 PM

just man up and pay the $50 to join and see everything your missing. This site doesn't pay for itself, you know.

yep, definitely looks like someone trying to cover all this up now that he has been caught red handed cheating.

even the thread over at bayou bucks was taken down to prevent anyone from reading about it.

the cover up is always worse then the crime as they say

its a shame too, because he seams like a really good captain who has skill and can put his customers on big fish but for whatever reason cant resist cheating in order to win free stuff

that was west delta 40 rigs, about 20 years ago though.

had a big jack crevelle on that trip too and thought I had something until I was told it was trash not worth cleaning, really disappointed me about that. never did get a picture of it because I dumped it on the side of the road for the crabs to eat

Gasper Master 10-04-2016 08:55 PM

whats the inside joke about the cornbread and redfish???

speck-addict 10-04-2016 08:56 PM

If anyone wants to start a new thread on the hull truth about it I think it would be fun to see haha

And also to the 50$ this site isn't worth the 50. maybe $0.05...maybe

Been there, done that. All it is is a pissing match between W and ASR, especially with LSU/Bama. Not worth the money.

Ah, so it's gotten worse. Definitely not worth the $6/month then. I'd rather spend that on something useful...like an abacus.

Explain how it is so profitable maybe I need to check my bank account again. We have basically no sponsors that are still paying and use a ton of bandwidth. I recently changed hosts and considered killing the site just so you know. I decided to keep it around one more year. But hey sounds like you know more than me arm chair qb so it works until you login one day and it's gone. Thanks to those of you that are premium members without you the site would not still be here that's a fact. It was close to gone 60 days ago.

Or you could post in there and make it "worthwhile" or just consider it your contribution to the site. You guys that ***** about your six dollars we are probably better off without you anyway.

ckinchen 10-05-2016 07:27 AM

Let me say it this way the day that the premium memberships can no longer pay for the bandwidth the site will be done. That day is coming unless something changes I'm not going to keep it around for fun and throw money at it.

FREON 10-05-2016 07:52 AM

When you recently changed hosts, did your cost increase or decrease? I know Jeff got out of the hosting business and that is why the owner of SaltyTexan shut that site down.

ahlangle 10-05-2016 08:24 AM

can you use SaltyCash fora premium membership?

BassYakR 10-05-2016 08:33 AM

I was a paying member for many years... I have since quit... basically bc this place as went to total ****!

hey Casey, i am sure you don't need any more responsibilities, but how bout a raffle forum in the premium section, raffle off different outdoor items for premium members to win, sell spots for a certain $ amount enough to cover item and shipping and handling costs, maybe that can help drum up new premium members, the item is not purchased till the raffle is finished, then shipped directly from vendor to winner, see photo for example from a facebook group

marshrunner757 10-05-2016 08:52 AM

On one hand it would be sad to see the site go. On the other, all its become is a male version of Facebook. I have a hand full of members that pm back and forth for fishing reports. About all you see here anymore is drama and threats. When members are allowed to threaten other members or bash other members without being kicked off the site, it won't be successful. It used to be a useful resource.

mcjaredsandwich 10-05-2016 08:53 AM

Does keeping the site up have anything to do with the lack of charity donations from not having a tournament this year? I guess it doesn't make sense to have a website up and running if it doesn't bring any tax write offs with it.

mcjaredsandwich 10-05-2016 08:56 AM

This website really used to be some thing good several years back. I have met and fished with some awesome people and learned a whole lot about life down here from the people ive met. Got where I am today because of those relationships. This place has gone to **** and I constantly see posts that I'd expect on facebook. I see arguments that belong on a daytime drama show. This place has changed for the worse, and I hate to see what it's become.

As if you're losing tons of money on this thing, you woulda shut it down long ago if you were. As far as me logging on and it not working one day, I literally couldn't care less. I was a paying member and decided it wasn't worth it. Several posters above said the same thing. You always get bit?hy when premium memberships are brought up and say the same ole tired a$$ sad songs and make the same ole threats. Just pull the trigger if its that bad. Do yourself a favor.

I use to come on this site daily, was a premium member, started many threads about fishing, fishing reports bla bla bla

Was chastised (by other members ((caughguidecaugh)) for posting map images for helping out an out of towner that had never been to BL

I liked this place, but I don't need the hassle. I came here to make friends talk fishing get and give advise, and fish with others, make fishing reports, and I have. Ive used guides from this sit as well bought items from the sponsors that advertised here (guess no more sponsors as Casey has stated, Ive been gone a while)

There are members here that run others off, thus I believe is the downward spiral

I check it out once in a blue moon, to see if things have changed, Im not surprised at the decline. Unless things change, Im sure one day, SC.com will not be found

good luck. Im out

Went way up. Jeff was hosting this site as well so I had to find someone else. I was faced with the same decision as Jeff let it go or pay more. Jeff was giving me a good deal for years.

Good to know you are still around Marty. Miss your reports and Arkansas house pics.
IMO, 1 year for $50 is a cheap price for the entertainment

Feesherman 10-05-2016 10:02 AM

The only reason I drop by anymore is to watch the "guides" fight and make threats and to clown people for not being able to spell.

Thanks W I will never regret purchasing this site I have made some many important relationships through this site and I know we have helped a lot of people along the way.Forums generally decline over time they become really popular then die down that's the life of a forum. Some like 2 cool are able to stand the test of time. I hope this one can as well and I know it has potential. Nothing has changed with how we run the site same polices same procedures. You guys started this site to have a more open forum to discuss all things outdoors/sports, etc... We never wanted to moderate it to death. When things get way out of hand we ban or move threads but try to let as much go as we can. A forum is all about the members and what you guys make of it. It can be great again but that requires posting your reports on here and not facebook. I think it's easy to post on facebook so people just do that and do not come and repeat the same post here on the site so that hurts us.I will be doing a premium drawing next week it's my fault for letting that slide. I'm planning to take next fall off from coaching football and if I do bring back the tournament if people really want it and will support it. I just didn't have time this year.
