Hey Dink, a couple of months ago you posted a couple of pics with some tuna, did you go out of Venice for those??

I just got a boat for offshore fishing and thought about going to Grand Isle this year and hope to go after tuna. I would really love to go after dolphin but don't know if I will ever go out the far. I really don't want to drag my trailer to Venice. I won't ask where your fishing grounds are but how far out frome Grand Isla are you running.

Dink 01-19-2010 02:03 PM

it wasnt this year, but, theres usually a rip pretty close in.........30-40 miles. find a grass bed and troll it, youll find dolphin...........

QUACKHEAD 01-19-2010 02:10 PM

Thanks for the info. Big Kahunaz, I didn't mean to steal your thread, but I did want to borrow it.

cmdrost 01-19-2010 02:35 PM

dolphin are closer in than tuna usually. Find a rip and you'll find dolphin.

QUACKHEAD 01-19-2010 03:06 PM

I'm ready for the summer, Duck hunting Sux this year anyway, so bring on the heat! Summer is the best time of year for tuna and dolphin right ?

cmdrost 01-19-2010 04:04 PM

actually spring is best for wahoo and tuna. Summer is best for Dorado, but tuna & wahoo are still plentiful. Everything slows down around Sept.

QUACKHEAD 01-19-2010 04:29 PM

THANKS FOR THE INFO cmdrost. Looking forward to spring and summer. So you think April and May time frame.

Dink 01-19-2010 04:40 PM

QUACKHEAD 01-19-2010 05:02 PM
