Yamaha 25 problem

i have a 25 3cyl that has been sitting up for about a year and a half after having lower bearing and piston replaced (from rust seizer in bearing). i have been working on my boat and unable to use it. i finally got it running yesterday and found after shuttting down that i was getting black oil leaking out of a small hole on the underside of the cavitation plate just above the prop. the hole is factory drilled but i have never had any oil out of it before. i also had water coming out of several holes in the gearcase, which may be normal, but i just don't remember if it did that before. anyone have any ideas why the oil leak? the motor ran for about 10-15 minutes on the hose with no problems. thanks to anyone who can help.

YOu have a leak in your seal on the lower unit. It will eventually result in a blown lower unit if not fixed. Drain the lower unit oil and and see if there is water in the drip pan.

Pull the prop and check for fishing line as well.

thanks. i drained the lower unit Sunday and it looked to have a different color, like water was getting into it, but i was just running the motor in my back yard on the muffs and hose, so i am wondering if the water may be coming thru a gasket or passageway. i am going to pull the unit off this coming weekend and do a pressure check. do you know if the water normally comes out of several holes in the lower unit? i don't remember if it did before or not. thanks again!

I had one doing same thing and it was 10yrs old so I just took the foot in and had shop replace all the seals in it for peace of mind and I figured if one was leaking others would before long at that age
