Calcasieu River bass fishing

Well since I sold my bay boat 2 weeks ago I guess now I'll have to start fishing the Calcasieu river here in Moss Bluff for bass, etc. I live only 1 mile from the boat launch behind Walgreen's. Heard that some bass were being caught but don't really have a clue about fishing this river. Any suggestions on catching bass on this part of the river would be appreciated. I fish out of a 16x48 weldcraft with a 3 cyl 25 suzuki.

Also, if you fish this part of the river and have an open spot in the boat i'd be glad to jump in and cover fuel/beer costs..

TIA,

Latt

What's wrong with an alweld? I don't care for the performance tunnel but I think they are solid boats.

Latt..... my neighbor fishes that part of the river, but don't think he has been out in a while. He has major health issues, but did see him cutting the grass a coupe days ago.

I will see if he can tell me anything. Give the river a shot, he usually brings home some fish when he goes. You might even catch a Red or 2 if you go down past the bridge.

I haven't fished the river a lot, but I have caught fish in watermelon bay. I've heard it's generally better above White Oak Park, but I don't know how accurate that is. I'd like to go with someone that knew what they were doing too.

good luck findin someone that knows what they doin.....lol. No realy if you can find water movin out of the little marshes up above White Oak you can pick up some fish. My grandpa knows an old man that will run up and take a small stick and throw it in the water, if it moves like water comin out of marsh he fishes if it dont move he goes home. With the salt barrier closed and no rain its hard to get water movin but good luck.

I was swimmin in the river yesterday, between watermelon bay and white oak park. That water is practically salty right now.

Well I have never really put a gps to it but she runs pretty darn fast with just me and runs very well with 3 duck hunters in it. I love the 3 cyl. Zuke. I hope to keep this motor running forever.

I have one of the last 3cylinder yamahas on my 15x48 and have thought of gettin a 16'-17' boat but wondered how it would push.
