I agree. They are also using the flooding of farm land from the Mississippi river this year also as an excuse.

We also deer hunt Menard. Have had same lease for a long time until 2 years ago we lost it to sime guys willing to pay a fortune.

Have a much smaller tract for this year.

Where about is your lease?

weedeater 07-04-2011 09:03 PM

You said at the feed store do yall have a feed mill anywhere around, we hunt Eldorado and have a feed mill we buy ours at

Montauk17 07-04-2011 10:15 PM

Yeah it sucks....almost the same price to put c'mhere deer in the feeders :D

Raymond 07-05-2011 06:27 AM

Buy direct, if you are using that much corn find a farmer and purchase from him. Might be cheaper in the long run.

vandam 07-05-2011 04:13 PM

our lease is 7 miles west on us 190. we use to buy our corn from mill, by the super bag in New Berlin but now the mill is closed. The only good thing is we only have to feed one time a year.our feeders are 1200 pound boss buck feeders

flounder_smacker 07-05-2011 04:41 PM

you can buy from a local mill or elevator. you can get it for around 9 bucks for a 55gallon drum. we get ours from a feed store in white castle 12 a drum. you have to bring your own drums and they just pour it in. if they still have corn left over from last year you can get it pretty cheap. only thing is you might have little pieces of cob in it and it can clog a feeder. just pour it through a screen when filling feeders.

IMO fishing is waaaay more expensive than hunting. My wife asked me to put away the guns when my 2nd kid was born and I obliged and bought a boat :smoking: She didn't realize that there is no "fishing season" like hunting season…but I know hands downs i can't compare the cost of a season of hunting to a year of fishing….

Can't beat the rush of shooting a buck within 30 yards with a bow! Fishing is more expensive, hunting only last 3 months.

Sept. 19 to Feb 15 for our Bow season.

That is almost 5 months that I usually hunt.
