Nutria control program...

Just curious if anyone here has ever taken part in the nutria tail collections? I was doing a little looking into it. If anyone here has been a part of it, let me know what you thought bout it.

Go there and click on experience wildlife. There is a nutria control button. They list some of the regs but, some of them, to me, are a little confusing. The part of land owner/manager signatures is kinda confusing. I don't know if that means that you can't take em on state waters or wma's... Also, some of the info recording is somewhat cloudy to me.

I guess I need to catch a day when work is slow and go to the WLF office to get some more details. If anyone knows the ins and outs on this program, let's here it!

It is somewhat like obtaining the alligator license. You need to have valid proof that you can take nutria from a certain parcel of land. You can't just go out on the river and shoot up everyone you see and collect for them.

As for the recording, I don't know about that.

Pretty cool. Thanks for the input fellas. Too bad bout the no taking on state waters cuz I would see dozens of them on most days in the spillway!

it should be in state waters. there is not one beneficial aspect to these things. their fur isnt worth anything anymore, and the destroy our wetlands/

we are having a problem at our test ponds right now where they have completely cleared 20 foot squares of spartina alterniflora (smooth cord grass). its amazing what they can do in a few hours
