What station would you use to do a radio check? Would be for vbay area thanks

Most Vessels equipped will monitor 13 and 16 just remember VHF ch 16 is intl hailing and distress frequency only

Most areas in Louisiana use 13 (Vsl to Vsl) with the exception of the Mississippi River they use 67 over there and the pilots use 08. The bridges and locks all vary usually 11, 12, 13, or 14 but just depends on area stay off 21a, 22a, 23a, 81a, 82a, and 83a and only use 16 to hail someone then switch channels or in the event of an emergency.
