spring shrimp season
 
opens may 15th from freshwater bayou to the texas line. ive only caught shrimp during the fall at the grand bayou wier. are the wiers usually open during the spring season, if so is it worth anything?

I've caught em behind the weirs just before the season closed. Before then they are generally small. Call this number to find out if the weirs are open. 855-532-9955

thanks, I have the number. first off being its on the reserve, I didn't know if we were legally allowed back there during that time. and two I wasn't sure if the spring season was even worth going out for. thanks again!

We've got some big whites in Galveston bay in the open water areas at this time. But, yeah, behind the weirs would just be small shrimp until they mature more in the fall.
