Looking for Hunting Jacket/Boots

Native of Louisiana, living in Northern Virginia, been away for over 40 years in military and as a contractor. Starting my transition toward retirement, and eventually immigrate to Baton Rouge area, by attending the 2011 squirrel season. I would appreciate recommendation on boots and winter coat, and where to buy, even Internet. Anything has to be better than beaten-up high-top tennis shoes and old field jacket I wore as a kid.

Hunting jacket,etc.

Depends what kind of hunting you'll be doing. I do a lot of duck hunting so I like Browning and Drake 3 in one jackets. (Cabela's and Lafayette shooters are good places to try some jackets out) Inner liner can be taken out when weather is not too cold with the 3 in 1. Make sure and get something with Gore-Tex and or some other good name brand waterproofing material. You usually get what you pay for in a good hunting jacket as you would expect. Hunting boots--I like Lacrosse lace boots with Gore-Tex lining for squirrel/deer hunting. For duck hunting knee boots I like Muck Arctic Sport. Keeps my feet warm and toasty even on very cold days with 2 pairs of socks. If you need waders. I like 5mm thick neoprene Cabela's chest stocking foot waders. These things get hot though if you move around a little and weather is not too cold.

sportsmansguide.com and the other sites mentioned before. some good lacrosse boots and a medium jacket is all you need. i layer with under armor as the temp changes daily here.

Thanks guys, that's the kind of advice for which I was was looking. I learned long ago to buy quality and you only pay once. Last I hunted was in the 70s, but when my father died in '79 I only went back to visit my mother. I can't wait to do some squirrel hunting and eventually move back permanently. I've already been scouting out the firing range west of the Mississippi and decided to live somewhere between Thibodaux and Baton Rouge.:)

BTW, what type of Lacrosse boots... there are so many different types, e.g., snake boots? The Browning/Drake 3in1 will be easy. Geez, Cabelas is in Gonzales? It's 185 miles from my current house to the nearest Cabelas.

I'm from a little town north of Thibodaux called Labadieville. I lived in those swamps. Still have mud under my toe nails.
